Lapchenko Yurii in 2003 graduated from Lutsk State Technical University and received a full higher education on the specialty "precision mechanics instruments".

Since November 2011 to present day a scientific secretary of the specialized Scientific Council K32.075.06 on the defense of dissertation for the degree of candidate of technical sciences in the specialty 05.02.08 "Engineering technology."

During 2012-2015 participated in the Ukrainian-Swiss project «Health of Mother and child». The received certificate allowed to conduct trainings for medical workers of Volyn region during 2013-2015.

Since 2016 expert of the Council of Young Scientists of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine on conducting the examination of research and scientific-practical works of scientific scientists. The examination of 13 scientific works of section 3-new technologies of materials production, their processing, connection, quality control, materials science, nanomaterials and nanotechnologies is conducted.

Lapchenko Yurii author of over 70 scientific works and one single manual. He has published more than 20 educational-methodical works.

 

Brief history of the department

The department of "Instrumentation engineering" was created in accordance with the order of the Lutsk Industrial Institute No. 141, December 27, 1995 "About organizational and structural changes in the institute" separated from the graduate department "Metal-cutting machine tools and systems" as a separate subdivision.

The department consisted of 6 lecterues and 2 laboratory assistants. It was located in the building № 2 in the street Potebni, 56. The total area of all laboratories was more than 500 square metres.

In 1990, the speciality " Instrumentation engineering" was licensed. The training of special subjects was provided by the teachers of the department "Metal-cutting machine tools and tools". In 1995, the section "Instrument-making" at the department "Metal-cutting machine tools and tools" carried out the first graduation of specialists in the speciality " Instrumentation engineering."

In 1996, the Department of Instrumentation engineering carried out the first graduation of mechanical engineers in the field of "Instrumentation engineering".

In connection with the reorganization of higher education in 1997, the new curriculum for a 3-step form of education (bachelor-specialist-master) was revised and approved and the name of the speciality was changed to "Fine Mechanics Devices".

In 2003, the department licensed the speciality "Medical devices and systems" and made the first set of students to the energy-saving faculty.

At present, the teaching process at the department is provided by 9 teachers, among them there is two doctors of sciences, a professor, and 7 candidates of sciences, all them have a rank of associate professor.

In 2010, the speciality "Metrology and Information-Measurement Technologies" was opened and the first set of students was implemented. In 2015, the first graduation of specialists in this speciality was conducted at the Department of Instrumentation engineering of the Faculty of Ecology.

 

Specialties of the department and their characteristics.

Modern production and everyday life cannot be imagined without such an industry as automation and instrumentation, which is designed to help solve various issues of industrial and non-production spheres of human activity. The important factor of clear and qualitative work of devices and information-measuring systems is conformity of their impressions and results of measurement.

Speciality «Metrology and information-measuring technology» prepares the specialists the activity of which is connected with ensuring of metrological supervision of devices and equipment of various purposes, and a wide range of measurements.

Graduates of the specialty "Metrology and information-measuring technology" receive the engineering and technical qualifications of training and can work in the field of design, construction, operation, verification and repair of medical and general-technical instruments and measuring systems, which are used at the enterprises of instrument-making, machine-building, food, light and other branches of industry.

The graduate has the right to work in the production, design, and operating divisions of enterprises and organizations related to operation, maintenance and repair of appliances and systems.

A graduate may hold positions:

·              • engineer-designer;

·              • engineer-metrologies;

·              • engineer-electrician;

·              • quality engineer;

·              • standardization and certification engineer.

The sphere of activity of specialists is control over technological or design preparation of production, assembling and operation of equipment of machine-building, instrument-making and other enterprises, organizations and establishments. They may also be engaged in reference or marketing activities in the relevant units of these enterprises.

 

Speciality "Micro-and nanosystem technology" trains specialists in the field of micro-and nanosystem technologies – fundamentally new and dynamically developing direction of science and technology at the junction of two most progressive areas of practical knowledge-microelectronics and mechanics. Fundamentally new properties possess nanosystems and devices, created completely or partly on the basis of nanomaterials and nanotechnologies.

Graduates of the specialty "Micro and nanosystem technology" have the engineering-technical direction of training and can work in the field of design, construction, operation and repair of micro and nanosystem equipment at enterprises of instrument-making, machine-building, food, light and other industries, as well as in medical institutions. Graduates from this field of knowledge can be employed in research and design-engineering institutions.

Professional activity of specialists is connected with development of manufacturing technologies, methods of calculation, constructing and diagnostics of microelectromechanical and nanoelectromechanical systems, nanoobjects and nanostructural materials, metrological providing of measurements at micro-and nanolevels and determination of mechanical properties of materials and components in micro-and nanoscale.

Specialist in specialty "Micro and nanosystem technology" has the right to work in the production, design, research and operating departments of instrument-making profile companies and organizations related to operation, maintenance and repair of devices and systems. And also, can work in production, design, research and operating divisions of instrument-making profile enterprises that produce measuring, medical devices, and organizations related to operation, maintenance and repair of measuring and medical devices and systems.

Specialist in micro and nanosystem engineering may hold positions:

·              • engineer-designer;

·              • engineer-metrologies;

·              • engineer-electrician;

·              • engineer-technologist;

·              • medical equipment engineer.

 

Main staff of the department

In the process of training specialists in specialties 152 "Metrology and information-measuring technology", 153 "Micro- and nanosystem technology" participate professors of leading departments of the Lutsk National Technical University. But teachers of the department "Instrumentation Engineering" play most important role in this.

 Scientific activity of the department

Qualitative indicators of the teaching staff are the result of the strategy of the graduate department, aimed at forming a team of highly professional specialists who teach the most important disciplines of curricula, are engaged in research and teaching and methodical work, have a perspective to enhance scientific and pedagogical skills.

Teachers of the Department carry out research activities in the following scientific areas:

1. "Technological control of quality parameters and operational characteristics of machine parts and devices for machining operations."

2. "Development and research of methods and devices for medical biology diagnostics".

3. "Improvement of automated systems of active control and control of processes of grinding parts of roller bearings".

4. "Development of technological processes of customs and non-destructive control with the use of special technical means".

5. "Investigation of processes of vibration abrasive processing of parts of devices".

The formation of the material and technical base of instrumentation engineering department of the Lutsk National Technical University is based on the principle of necessary sufficiency. The department has created a modern material and technical base, which allows to organize a high-level educational process.

The material base of the Instrument Engineering Department is located in laboratories, the total area of which is 359 m2. The computer class is equipped with 12 PCs, in which students carry out laboratory work on various disciplines, work on the Internet, prepare graduation papers and diploma projects.

Teachers and students use the inter-departmental research laboratory for technological measurements, where the following works can be carried out:

1.            Measurement of the components of cutting forces;

2.           Measurement of geometrical parameters of the cutting tool and general-purpose parts;

3.           Measurement of dynamic parameters of elements of metalworking equipment (vibration, stiffness, vibration velocity, vibration acceleration, etc.);

4.           Measurement of temperature processes of blade and abrasive treatment;

5.           Measurement of microgeometric and physical-mechanical parameters of surfaces of parts (roughness, wavelength, hardness, operational parameters);

6.           Measurement of illumination of premises and electric measurements;

7.           Measurement of electromagnetic radiation parameters;

8.           Measurement of the equivalent dose rate and photon-ionizing radiation density; measuring an equivalent dose of photon-ionizing radiation; measuring the accumulation of an equivalent dose; measurement of beta-particles density;

9.           Definition of metal type (color or black);

10.      Detection of hidden metal objects;

11.      Determination of the thickness of the coating and homogeneity of the metal;

12.      Determination of the condition of structures in hard-to-reach places on the external grounds;

13.      Verification and setting of zero marks horizontally and vertically.

The department co-operates in the direction of passing the industrial practice with UPU number 9 (Lutsk), OJSC "Electrothermometry", OJSC "SKF Ukraine", State Enterprise "Volynstandardmetrology", State Enterprise LRZ "Motor", Volyn Regional Clinical Hospital, Lutsk City Clinical Hospital and Volyn Regional Children's Territorial Medical Association.

In 2008-2015, teachers and students of the department participated in the Swiss-Ukrainian project "Perinatal Health", as well as participated in the introduction of telemedicine technologies in the health care institutions of Volyn region.

The department cooperates with the Lublin Polytechnic, Rzeszow Polytechnic and the Higher Technical and Economic School in Yaroslav (Republic of Poland).
