Development of environmentally friendly thermoplastic structural materials on a natural vegetable basis, designed for a wide range of applications as an alternative to conventional plastics, in particular for additive technology of forming products.

Research expertise:

Vitalii Kashytskyi - PhD., Associate Professor

Research projects:

Receiving and further processing of biocomposite materials with organic fillers for the engineering industry; construction and chemical industry, which involves a closed cycle of the use of biodegradable materials, followed by the production of renewable raw materials.

Research expertise:

• Development of composition and research of properties of modified polymeric materials based on epoxy resin;
• Investigation of the conditions for the formation of self-organized structures on the surface of tribocontact epoxy composites;
• Development of epoxy composite corrosion and wear-resistant coatings structured under the influence of physical fields;
• Development of technology for the formation of polymer composites in the intensive thermal treatment.

Dmytro Husachuk - PhD., Associate Professor

Composite materials based on cast iron, their structure and properties, and the influence of technological factors on the processes of structural adaptation under friction loading conditions; the process of forming plastic materials and materials processing technology pressure.

Research expertise:

• Technology of materials, experimental study of the properties of metal alloys, non-destructive testing, technique of physical experiments, metallurgy, foundry production, forging and stamping production;

• Technology of materials, experimental study of the properties of metallic alloys and oxide-ceramic coatings, metallic physics, spectral properties of electrolyte plasma at plasma-electrolytic oxidation, surface hardening of metals;

Research of the consideration of the individual physical and mechanical properties of metal batches to ensure the stability of the technological processes of cold sheet forming of spatial details with the use of the method of finite elements; Research of boundary equilibrium of shell structure elements.

Research expertise:

• The technology of cold sheet forging, the study of the efficiency of separate and form-forming operations of sheet stamping, the study of elastic-plastic state of blanks in the process of pulling;
• Determination of the influence of physical-mechanical, macro and microstructural, technological and operational parameters on the stability of the process of cold sheet punching;

Investigation of optical properties of vitrified chalcogenide alloys doped with erbium.

Research expertise:

• Investigation of state diagrams of quasi-triple exchange systems, development of chemical and technological conditions for growing single crystals, investigation of optical properties of glasslike chalcogenide alloys.
• Technology of materials, physics and chemistry of solids, experimental study of properties of chalcogenide five-elemental alloys: differential thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction analysis, microstructural analysis, vacuum technology, furnaces, growth units;
• Determination of microhardness; Study of phase composition of samples. Measurement and interpretation of results.
• Construction of bulky state diagrams of systems to clarify the diagrams of the state of quasibinary systems, polythermal sections, and to improve the chemical and technological conditions for growing single crystals.

Research projects:

Development of cast composite materials with high mechanical and tribotechnical properties and simplified technological processes of their obtaining. Alloys based on iron and non-ferrous metals and their thermal treatment.

Research expertise:

• A new category of cast composite materials, synthesized on the basis of gray cast iron, has been developed, with a low coefficient of friction (≤0.1), and a durability of 2.5 ... 3.0 higher known tribomaterials (high-strength cast iron, bronze).
• A mechanism for the purposeful management of processes for the formation of the structure and physical and mechanical properties of copper high-strength cast iron bainite-grade.
• Optimum parameters of isothermal hardening of high-strength pig-iron containing 4 ... 10% by weight of Cu.
