Lutsk NTU Officially Opened the Center of Vocational and Career Guidance

There has been held the opening of a new modern platform for enhancing the quality of vocational guidance of young people at the Lutsk National Technical University.

First of all, guests were greeted by the head of the Department of Materials Science Mykola Melnychuk. He was also a moderator at the meeting of EU / CoE - Technical Assistance Project, which served as a basis for the establishment of the Center. He highlighted that the work of such a platform would provide significant help for young people in self-determination and finding themselves on the labor market. Hence, the cooperation with the State Employment Centеr could be even more effective.

'Today, we present a career guidance and career development center that will help our potential applicants to decide on professional self-identification from the school desk. The Center will help our students to receive a successful job position. Center Counselors will teach young people how to communicate correctly during an interview, and to decide on the place of work. We hope that the Center will work on the same platform with the State Employment Center,' - said Mykola Melnychuk.

In his turn, the rector of Lutsk NTU Petro Savchuk added that the project was created at the expense of the EU within the framework of the cross-border Eastern Partnership Territorial Cooperation (EaPTC) Project. Its uniqueness lies in the software, analogues of which still do not exist in Ukraine:

'We celebrate this events, because we can present some interesting things for the Volhynians concerning the educational process, professional formation and its key competencies in order to have qualified specialists on the labor market. Today, we present the project funded by European Union. Although the budget is rather limited, up to 100 thousand euros, the potential of this Center is enormous. It's not only because there is a corresponding software, but also specialized products unique in the Ukrainian market. Only Lutsk NTU and the National University of Ostroh Academy will undergo a primary cycle of professional testing and adaptation of these software products. For a long time this experience has been used by the Baltic States and Germany, so we are proud to be in this project and we hope that European donors will also appreciate our work. In addition, I wish young people to be active, come to us and study their potential, so that we together form the future of a highly skilled educational environment in Volyn Region.'

Volyn educators' initiative appealed to the head of the Volyn Regional State Administration Oleksandr Savchenko. He emphasized that such Centers are needed not only in the Volyn region, but all over Ukraine, because their function is not the same as the one of Employment Centers. At the same time, O. Savchenko claims that with the cooperation of both institutions Ukrainian youth will be able choose their professional path with confidence.

Finally, Petro Savchuk and Olexandr Savchenko ceremoniously cut the ribbon, which symbolized the official opening of the Center of Vocational and Career Guidance.

It should be noted that the establishment of a university career center took place within the framework of EU / CoE - Technical Assistance Project 'Enhancing the competitiveness of graduates on labor markets of Ukraine and Belarus through establishment of cross-border regional network of university Centers of vocational and career guidance'.

The project started on November 30, 2017 and will last until January 30, 2019.
