Representatives of  Lutsk NTU at the international conference on the quality of road infrastructure in Lublin 

The  Dean  of   the  Construction and Design  Faculty    of   Lutsk   NTU  O. Bondarskyi  took part in the International Conference "Improving the Quality of Road Infrastructure" held in Lublin, Poland, on June 12  at the invitation of  Volyn Regional State Administration. 

 It is worth noting that the event took place within the framework of the project "Expansion of   Province   road  №812  on   Koroliuvka-Vlodava area", carried out within the framework of the program of cross-border cooperation Poland-Belarus-Ukraine 2014-2020.                 

 First of all,  the members of the conference were welcomed by the member of the Council of  Lublin  Province,  Zdzislaw Šved, and representatives   of  Volyn Regional State Administration. Therefore, experts in the field of road construction raised the urgent issues and discussed problems in designing road infrastructure, decentralization of local roads, processing of asphalt waste in technology. Experts also spoke about mineral-asphalt mixes with reduced production temperatures with the addition of zeolites, presented studies on the brightness of road coverings, non-destructive dynamic tests  and  analysis of the application of coatings that reduce noise, etc.

 After   the  dean  of  the   СDF (  Lutsk NTU )  O. Bondarskyi  presented  the scientific research in the field of road construction. In particular, in   his   report    the speaker  told  about  the study of the soil moisture content of the road pavement with the use of geo-radionuclide.  According to the speaker, studies related to the operational determination of soil moisture are very relevant, as evidenced by a large number of studies on the development of models and methods for determining the soil moisture of the road pavement of the highway. The urgency of the problem stimulated the development of studies to establish a connection between the soil moisture of the earth's canvas and its strength and deformation parameters, taking into account local conditions, as well as theoretical calculation and prediction of soil moisture. Therefore, the main scientific result of the research is the development of theoretical and practical provisions for estimating the soil moisture content of the soil and the calculated parameters of the soil according to the data of georadar sensing, which is implemented in the express method of estimating the parameters of the  soil using a field georadar.                          

             In addition,  O.  Bondarskyi    told  about   the  design  of  road transport structures of dispersed   steel  concrete. So, today the main materials,  from which the DTS is made, are concrete and  steel  concrete, now they are the most massive artificial materials  that are  produced by  humanity. Thanks to their application, a number of world-famous buildings and bridges have been built.

             

However, under the influence of vehicles (shock and dynamic loads) and weather-climatic factors (temperature effects) on the surface of the DTS in the course of operation there is a destruction, which leads to the formation of cracks, potholes, the removal of concrete, the destruction of the protective layer of concrete, etc. Therefore, the use of steel  concrete and the conditions of its work in structures raises the problem of finding ways to increase the resistance to cracking, impact strength, frost resistance and other characteristics, which, in turn, depend on the strength of the material on tension. One of the solutions for increasing the cracking strength of concrete structures DTS is the use of disperse reinforcement. Dispersion-steel  concrete is a concrete in which the role of reinforcement is performed by a fiber located in its volume. If the fiber is made of steel - it is a steelfiber concrete. The fibers may have different geometric sizes. 

O. Bondarskyi  adds  that  owing   to   the construction laboratory in Lutsk NTU comprehensive research was conducted on the basis of which patents and copyright certificates were obtained, and their results are presented in the scientific literature published in Lutsk NTU.

Also  the Dean  shared his  research of integrated fortifications for the construction of hiking tracks, lanes and layers of roadway, clothing of highways. According to the research, in the road industry of Ukraine the urgent issue is major repairs and construction of motor roads of  IV, V categories. In the countryside, the predominant mode of transport is bicycle, so the construction of cycle tracks becomes especially relevant. In most cases  there are no hiking tracks in the countryside other than the soil roads. It is possible to use a relatively inexpensive material - the soil  strengthened with cement and with the addition of various additives, which improve the properties of this material. Particularly relevant it  is  in regions with reserves as sandy soil and sandstone, where there are no stone materials.   

              According to the results of the work,  the dean  summarizes the special relevance of the study  on the  influence of various chemical additives that are available on the Ukrainian market in the case of integrated soil consolidation and are intended as road pavement materials in areas lacking conditioned stone materials. Especially in the countryside when constructing hiking tracks and cycle tracks. So, finally, in the presentation  there  were given practical examples of road surface arrangement in real conditions, taking into account the formulations found in the laboratory.

It should be noted that due to the importance for the border areas, the project to expand the road №812 is implemented in close cooperation with the Ukrainian side. Partners take part in quarterly meetings, conferences devoted to the topic of road construction. Joint visits give partners the opportunity to get acquainted with the technology of construction and extension of roads, with modern methods used in construction. The experience of Polish builders can be useful to  Ukrainian partner while doing work in their territory to achieve comparative quality. In addition, such meetings are a platform for discussion of the issues regarding the state and development of the road network in the border zone, especially roads leading to border crossing points and maintenance infrastructure, reconstruction of road infrastructure on the Ukrainian side, planned construction of the Zberezhe-Adamchuky crossing point, construction of the logistics center in Kovel, and also contribute to the strengthening of cooperation between  Lublin  province  and  Volyn region.
